Baltic Research Institute "Student-led research in schools"

Welcome to the first research institute anywhere in the world that puts school-age students at the heart of cutting-edge research and innovation.

The Baltic Research Institute is based in the Contemporary Urban Centre (CUC) in Liverpool's Historic Baltic Triangle. Students aged 13-19 in the Northern Schools Trust work alongside industry and academic partners to conduct original STEM research, develop innovative solutions and analyse big data sets.

The Baltic Research Institute was set up to allow students to gain experience in conducting original research and develop a range of technical and transferrable skills in running a real research institute. The BRI will initially focus on three key areas including Research and Innovation, Education and Outreach, and Communications. The BRI has a number of outputs including the  Baltic Research Journal (BRJ) which showcases original research conducted in the Baltic Research Institute.
